What Chronance handles
On your device
Chronance stores the weekly amount you set, the state of your current plan, and Apple's opaque Screen Time selection tokens on your device. Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks handle selection, shielding, automatic window expiry, and the weekly reset.
The readable names of the apps you choose and your raw device activity are not uploaded to Chronance or Supabase. Chronance records the aggregate time while a group is unpaused, counted by started minute; it does not read per-app foreground usage.
When you create an optional account
Chronance may store:
- Your email address and authentication record.
- A Chronance-generated installation identifier used to keep this iPhone's synced plan separate from plans on your other devices. It is not an Apple device serial number or advertising identifier.
- Your group types and default window lengths, weekly start and end dates, allowances, aggregate used minutes, plan status, and number of Screen Time selections.
Chronance does not upload the specific apps you selected, websites you visit, messages, photos, contacts, or location.
When you join the website waitlist
Chronance stores the email address you submit, your selected site language, the signup source, and the signup time in a private Vercel Blob store. We use this only to manage early access and send occasional product updates. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
How that information is used
On-device data operates the weekly attention bank, protects your selected apps, shows your remaining time, and resets the plan for a new week.
Optional account data authenticates you, restores your weekly plan state, and keeps aggregate progress consistent when cloud sync is available. It is not used for advertising, analytics, or behavioral profiling.
Service providers
Apple Screen Time provides app selection, protection, background window expiry, and weekly reset on your iPhone.
Supabase provides optional authentication and private cloud storage. Access rules restrict synced rows to the signed-in owner. Chronance also checks a Supabase service endpoint to defend the weekly reset against manual clock changes. That request may expose your IP address, a device-supplied request timestamp, and standard network metadata to Supabase, but it does not contain your selected apps or weekly balance. Vercel hosts this website and privately stores waitlist submissions. Chronance does not include advertising networks or third-party analytics SDKs in the MVP.
Retention and deletion
Local plan data remains on your device while Chronance is installed. Cloud data remains while your account is active or as needed to operate the service.
You can permanently delete your cloud account and its synced records inside Chronance. Open settings, open your account, and choose Delete account. Your current Screen Time plan is device-owned and may continue until you end it or revoke Chronance's Screen Time access.
Your choices
- Use Chronance without creating a cloud account.
- Change or revoke Screen Time permission in iOS settings.
- Sign out without deleting your local weekly plan.
- Delete your cloud account and synced records in the app.
